The Role
As an Assistant Chef, you will work alongside the Head Chef to prepare nutritious, appetising meals that meet residents' individual dietary requirements while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation and cooking of high-quality meals
- Supporting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
- Preparing meals to accommodate special diets and nutritional needs
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and infection control standards
- Ensuring the kitchen is clean, safe and fully compliant with Health & Safety regulations
- Receiving and storing deliveries correctly
- Helping to create an enjoyable dining experience for residents
- Working collaboratively as part of a friendly and supportive team
About You
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, care home or hospitality environment is desirable
- A passion for preparing fresh, nutritious food
- Knowledge of food hygiene and Health & Safety procedures
- Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
- Organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure
- A caring and friendly approach with an understanding of the importance of nutrition in later life
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
