Chef de Partie

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Chef de Partie to join a well-established education provider with extensive catering facilities. Reporting directly to the Head Chef, the Chef de Partie will play a key role in delivering high-quality meals across multiple catering outlets, supporting students, staff, visitors, hospitality functions, conferences and events. Based within the central kitchens, the Chef de Partie will also support the successful operation of a busy café facility and contribute to the delivery of outstanding hospitality services across the campus.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and producing high-quality meals for students, staff and visitors
• Supporting the Head Chef with menu preparation and development
• Assisting with catering for conferences, meetings, events and hospitality functions
• Maintaining exceptional standards of food hygiene, health and safety and cleanliness
• Ensuring accurate food temperature and cleaning records are completed
• Monitoring stock levels, stock rotation and storage procedures
• Minimising waste through effective portion control and sustainable working practices
• Supporting service delivery across all catering outlets when required
• Maintaining excellent customer service standards at all times
• Assisting with the training and support of junior team members where appropriate

Requirements

Applicants should have demonstrable experience working within a high-volume professional kitchen environment. A catering qualification, Food Hygiene Certificate and knowledge of current food safety regulations are highly desirable. Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or within a similar role is highly desirable, together with experience preparing a variety of cuisines and cooking techniques. Knowledge of allergens, dietary requirements and prevention of cross-contamination is highly desirable. Candidates should be physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual handling duties.

A passion for quality food, sustainability, healthy eating and excellent customer service is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are highly desirable. Experience of menu planning, costing, procurement and supporting junior colleagues would be advantageous. Due to the rural location, own transport and a full UK driving licence are highly desirable.

This role could suit someone who has worked as a Line Chef, Senior Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor.

• Salary between £30,874 and £34,555 (banding system in place to determine outcome)
