About the role
If you are a Children’s Residential Care worker looking to make a difference, or you are considering a career change into residential care, we want to hear from you. This Children’s Residential Support Worker role is based in Bridgwater, supporting children and young people with complex needs in therapeutically supportive homes. The caring, consistent approach helps young people feel secure, develop self-esteem, and work through emotional needs and experiences from the past.
Key responsibilities
- Support children and young people in day-to-day life, promoting independence and wellbeing
- Encourage participation in activities and routines appropriate to individual ages and needs
- Maintain a homely, friendly culture while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment
- Support safely when dealing with challenging behaviours, in a calm and compassionate way
- Safeguard children and young people by protecting their health and welfare at all times
- Keep up to date with individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems, and preferred communication methods
- Work collaboratively with staff, families, Social Workers, and other professionals
What we are looking for
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People, desirable
- Experience in a residential children’s home setting, preferred
- Full driving licence, essential (you may be required to transport children from time to time)
About the service and shift pattern
- Full-time role with a varied shift pattern, including weekends and sleeps
- Ongoing on-site support by a therapist, within a stable and consistent care environment
- Location: Bridgwater, rural setting with convenient motorway access
Salary and benefits
- £29,000 - £32,000, sleep allowance included
- Overtime available
- Fully funded NVQ opportunities and CPD planning (Level 3 and beyond, Children and Young People qualification)
