Job Title: Residential Care Worker Children (Autism and ESBD) - Ebbw Vale

Location: Ebbw Vale

We are recruiting for a Residential Care Worker Children (Autism and ESBD) in Ebbw Vale to support children and young people with Autism (ASD) and Emotional, Social and Behavioural Difficulties (ESBD). This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Residential Care Worker Children (Autism and ESBD) in Ebbw Vale who can be a positive role model and provide consistent, therapeutic care within a children’s residential setting.

As a Residential Care Worker Children (Autism and ESBD) in Ebbw Vale, you will work as part of an integrated team to deliver high-quality Residential Childcare, promote safeguarding, and support positive outcomes, including strong inspection readiness.

Salary and Hours

£36,360 per annum
Full-time, 24-hour shifts on a rolling 3-week rota (flexibility required, including bank holidays)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people with ASD, ESBD and complex needs
  • Act as a key worker, building trusted relationships and promoting emotional wellbeing
  • Support therapeutic approaches including attachment-informed practice and PACE
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour (physical and emotional) in line with policies and risk assessments
  • Complete placement plans, risk assessments, and health and safety checks
  • Work closely with senior staff, providing feedback and contributing to team consistency
  • Follow Safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation to promote safety, health and wellbeing

Essential Requirements

  • QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
  • Experience in Residential Childcare (ideally 6-18 months+)
  • Proven experience supporting Autism (ASD) and ESBD/EBD
  • Clean full UK driving licence (manual)
  • Good IT literacy (Outlook, email, Word, Excel)
  • Strong understanding of childhood development, trauma-informed care and therapeutic parenting
  • Willingness to complete safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS

Desirable

  • Registration with Social Care Wales and/or DBS Update Service
  • Welsh speaking
