Our client Oldham Council is looking for a Children's Social Worker to join their Assessment & Intervention team.



Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality social work services to children, young people, and their families by undertaking assessments, managing child protection and child in need cases, and implementing interventions that promote children's safety, wellbeing, and permanence.



Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake statutory assessments under relevant children's legislation.
  • Assess the needs, strengths, and risks affecting children and families.
  • Develop and implement child-focused plans to safeguard and promote welfare.
  • Manage a caseload of children requiring assessment and intervention.
  • Complete child protection enquiries and investigations.
  • Prepare reports for court proceedings and attend court as required.
  • Chair and participate in professional meetings where appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with children, families, carers, schools, health professionals, police, and other agencies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records.
  • Ensure children's voices are heard and inform assessment and planning.
  • Monitor and review care plans and interventions.
  • Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns and emergency situations.
  • Contribute to permanency planning where necessary.
