Children's Social Worker - Support and Safeguarding
Remedy Social Work
Our client Windsor and Maidenhead council is looking for a Children's Social Worker to join their Support and Safeguarding team.
Role purpose:
To work with children, young people and their families where there are concerns about welfare, safety, neglect, abuse or other risks. The Social Worker assesses children's needs, develops plans to improve outcomes and works with families and partner agencies to safeguard children and promote their wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake assessments of children and families in accordance with relevant legislation and local authority procedures.
- Identify risks, strengths and unmet needs and develop appropriate plans to safeguard children.
- Manage a caseload of children subject to child in need, child protection and other safeguarding plans.
- Undertake statutory visits and maintain regular contact with children and families.
- Participate in child protection enquiries, strategy discussions and conferences where required.
- Prepare high-quality reports for child protection conferences, reviews, court proceedings and other professional meetings.
- Work collaboratively with parents and carers to address concerns and improve outcomes for children.
- Build effective relationships with children and ensure their wishes and feelings are central to decision-making.
- Work closely with schools, health services, police, youth services and other professionals.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, including neglect, domestic abuse, exploitation and other forms of harm.
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential case records.
- Contribute to multi-agency meetings and information-sharing arrangements.
- Take appropriate action where risks escalate, including seeking management oversight and considering alternative legal or safeguarding interventions.
- Promote positive outcomes, permanence and stability for children.
- Work within relevant legislation, statutory guidance, professional standards and local authority policies.
