SW Locums is recruiting an experienced Senior Children’s Social Worker / Specialist Social Worker to join Southwark Council’s Assessment and Intervention Service at Sumner House.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner to undertake meaningful statutory work and make a real difference to children and families.

Role Details

• Position: Senior Children’s Social Worker / Specialist Social Worker

• Location: Southwark, London – Sumner House

• Pay: £39.04 per hour

• Contract: Full-time Locum

• Start: ASAP

• Working Pattern: Hybrid, with at least 3 days per week in the office

• Duty: Assessment Team rota approximately every 5 weeks

The Role

Working as part of the Assessment Team, you will play a key role in assessing risk, safeguarding children and helping families achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Undertaking assessments of children and families.

• Completing home visits and direct work with children.

• Conducting Section 47 enquiries.

• Completing risk assessments and safety planning.

• Working collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners.

• Making sound professional decisions focused on children’s safety and wellbeing.

• Maintaining high-quality case records and meeting statutory requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 5 years’ post-qualified experience.

• Completed ASYE.

• At least 3 years’ experience in a permanent Social Worker role.

• Previous experience within a Children’s Assessment Team.

• Strong experience in assessment, safeguarding, risk assessment and direct work with children.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced statutory environment.
