Role: Registered Children’s Home Manager
Location: Birmingham
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week, with flexibility required to meet the needs of the home)
Salary: Up to £70,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)

What will you be doing?

As the Registered Children’s Home Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the effective management and operation of a 2-bedroom EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) children’s home. You will provide strong leadership to the staff team, ensuring children and young people receive exceptional care, support, and opportunities to achieve positive outcomes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the home in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, Ofsted requirements, and company policies.
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where children feel secure, respected, and valued.
  • Ensuring children receive high-quality, personalised care that meets their individual needs and promotes independence and development.
  • Providing effective leadership, supervision, and support to the residential care team.
  • Recruiting, training, mentoring, and developing staff to maintain excellent standards of care.
  • Ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed and that children’s welfare remains the highest priority.
  • Managing care plans, risk assessments, placement plans, and behaviour support strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with social workers, education providers, health professionals, families, and other external agencies.
  • Monitoring and improving the quality of care through audits, reviews, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring the home is fully prepared for Ofsted inspections.
  • Promoting a positive culture where children’s voices, wishes, and feelings are listened to and respected.
Experience/qualifications required:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Previous experience working as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, or Senior Manager within a children’s residential care setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership role within residential childcare.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with EBD, trauma, attachment difficulties, or complex behaviours.
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Ofsted expectations, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making skills.
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
