The role & about the client: ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, independent engineering consultancy based in Fareham who are looking to appoint an experienced Civil Engineer to help develop and grow their civil engineering capability.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit consultancy with an excellent reputation across the South Coast. The business has built its success through delivering high-quality structural engineering solutions and is now investing heavily in expanding its Civil Engineering division.
You'll play a key role in leading and developing the civil engineering offering, taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion while helping shape the future direction of the department. The role offers genuine autonomy, direct client exposure and excellent career progression for someone looking to make an impact rather than becoming another number within a larger consultancy.
Projects are predominantly residential developments, delivering highways, drainage and infrastructure solutions alongside the company's structural engineering commissions.
The position offers an excellent work-life balance with Monday to Thursday 9:00am – 5:30pm, Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm, together with one day per week working from home.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the delivery of civil engineering projects from concept through to construction.
- Produce highways, drainage and infrastructure designs for residential developments.
- Design Section 278 and Section 38 highway works.
- Prepare drainage strategies, external works layouts and flood mitigation solutions.
- Liaise directly with clients, architects, local authorities and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Attend project meetings and provide technical advice throughout the design process.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with current legislation, design standards and client requirements.
- Take ownership of multiple projects, ensuring quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
- Support the continued growth and development of the consultancy's Civil Engineering team.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a UK civil engineering consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of residential infrastructure design.
- Experience designing Section 278, Section 38 and drainage schemes.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and industry-standard design software.
- Good understanding of UK design standards, SuDS and current regulations.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Able to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
- Ambitious with a desire to help grow a developing Civil Engineering department.
