An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Estimator to join the Energy, Power & Renewables estimating team of a leading international engineering contractor. Based in Waterford, this role offers the flexibility of hybrid working.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, submission and management of civil engineering tenders, ensuring accurate cost estimates are produced in line with tender documentation.

The Role

As Civil Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review tender drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports and associated documentation.
  • Prepare take-offs and bills of quantities.
  • Develop procurement schedules for tender packages.
  • Prepare and issue enquiry packages to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Evaluate and compare subcontractor, supplier and specialist quotations.
  • Organise and chair tender review meetings.
  • Accurately quantify labour, plant and material requirements.
  • Prepare cost estimates using estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Compile and manage tender queries and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Attend site surveys where required.
  • Contribute to tender risk and opportunity assessments.
  • Prepare tender submission documentation.
  • Attend pre-contract and post-tender meetings.
  • Act as the primary point of contact throughout the tender process.
  • Manage tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission.
  • Coordinate civil aspects of tenders to ensure deadlines and client expectations are achieved.
  • Manage RFIs and post-tender clarification processes.
About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Civil Estimator, Civil Quantity Surveyor or Civil Engineer.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
  • Experience using computerised estimating software.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and deliver against tight deadlines.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
