Location: Padeswood, North Wales
Contract: 12 Months - 24 Months + 
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Rate: £40.00 - £45.00 PAYE per hour + Holiday Pay

About the Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Inspector to join a major industrial construction project based in Padeswood, Mold. Working on the construction of a new build Carbon Capture facility. 

Working as part of the Project Quality Team, you will be responsible for independently inspecting and monitoring civil, structural and architectural construction activities, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and UK industry standards.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile engineering project, providing quality assurance throughout the construction phase while supporting the successful delivery of the works.

The Role As the Civil Inspector, you will maintain a proactive site presence, carrying out routine inspections and quality surveillance to ensure construction activities are completed correctly first time.

You will also undertake formal inspections following contractor Notifications of Inspection (NOIs) and Requests for Inspection (RFIs), maintaining detailed quality records and supporting the wider project team with reporting and quality assurance activities.

This role offers a balance of practical site inspection and quality documentation, requiring excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out independent inspections of civil, structural and architectural works.
  • Provide proactive site surveillance throughout all phases of construction.
  • Undertake inspections in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Respond to contractor Notifications of Inspection (NOIs) and Requests for Inspection (RFIs).
  • Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project quality requirements.
  • Participate in pre-construction readiness inspections.
  • Ensure works do not commence without approved documentation, permits and released inspection hold points.
  • Witness inspection and testing activities in accordance with project requirements.
  • Monitor contractor workmanship and identify quality issues before they impact the programme.
  • Review contractor quality documentation including:
    • Material certificates
    • Test records
    • Inspection reports
    • Delivery documentation
    • As-built information
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and upload documentation to project quality/completions systems.
  • Produce daily and weekly quality reports.
  • Maintain site inspection trackers.
  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required.
  • Support investigations and verify completion of corrective actions.
  • Attend daily coordination meetings and provide updates on inspection status and quality performance.
  • Build effective working relationships with contractors, engineering teams and project management while maintaining independent quality oversight.

  • Ground preparation and compaction
  • Roads and hardstanding
  • Foundations
  • Piling
  • Underground drainage
  • Buried services
  • Structural steelwork
  • Steel erection
  • Bolted and welded connections
  • Cladding systems
  • Associated civil and structural interfaces
Essential Experience To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Civil Inspector working within a dedicated Project Quality Team.
  • Previous experience on major EPC or EPCM construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil, structural and architectural construction practices.
  • Experience inspecting:
    • Earthworks
    • Foundations
    • Piling
    • Drainage
    • Structural steelwork
    • Roads and hardstanding
  • Excellent understanding of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction specifications.
  • Knowledge of UK construction standards including:
    • BS EN Standards
    • ICE Specifications
    • Eurocodes
    • CDM Regulations
  • Experience witnessing construction testing including:
    • Concrete slump testing
    • Concrete cube testing
    • Compaction testing
    • Pile integrity testing
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a site-based environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Essential Qualifications
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Valid Site Medical Certificate
Desirable
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or Construction.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification in Quality Control/Quality Assurance.
  • Experience in concrete technology or geotechnical inspections.
  • Experience using electronic quality reporting or completions systems.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution.
