About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer to join an established and growing civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Cardiff.
Working as part of a friendly and collaborative team, you will be involved in delivering a varied portfolio of civil engineering projects across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, leisure, industrial and other development sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Civil Engineer looking to develop their career within a consultancy that combines technical expertise with practical, commercially focused engineering solutions.
The role
You will work closely with clients, developers, architects, contractors and other consultants, taking projects from initial concept through to detailed design and delivery.
Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities may include:
- Producing and managing civil engineering designs for a range of development projects.
- Drainage design, including foul and surface water systems.
- Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) design and SAB applications.
- Highway and infrastructure design.
- Preparing designs and technical information for relevant Section Agreements, including S38, S278 and S104.
- Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Consequence Assessments.
- Ground modelling and earthworks design.
- Preparing technical reports, drawings, specifications and calculations.
- Liaising with local authorities, statutory bodies, clients and other design team members.
- Supporting planning and technical approval processes.
- Managing your own projects and deadlines.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team, where appropriate.
- Contributing to the continued development and growth of the Cardiff civil engineering team.
About you
We are looking for a motivated and technically capable Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer who enjoys working on challenging projects and finding practical solutions.
You will ideally have:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
- Experience in drainage, highways, infrastructure or development design.
- Experience with SuDS and SAB applications would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of Section Agreements and the development approval process.
- Experience with flood risk/drainage strategies would be beneficial.
- Experience with ground modelling and earthworks would be advantageous.
- Good knowledge of relevant design standards and guidance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Chartered or working towards Chartered status is desirable, but we are also keen to hear from strong engineers who are looking to progress towards professional qualification.
