Civil Engineering Technician
Wakefield

If you're a Civil Engineering Technician who enjoys producing high-quality highways and drainage designs but feels like just another number in a large consultancy, this could be exactly the change you've been looking for.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established, family-run Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy that has been delivering successful development projects across Yorkshire and the UK for over 30 years. With a loyal client base, steady pipeline of work and a genuinely supportive culture, you'll become part of a close-knit team where your ideas are listened to, your work is recognised and you'll be given the autonomy to manage your own projects while always having experienced Engineers on hand for support when you need it.

Working alongside experienced Civil Engineers, you'll play a key role in the production of highways and drainage designs for a wide range of residential, commercial and industrial developments. You'll be responsible for producing detailed technical drawings and models using AutoCAD and Civils 3D, supporting the delivery of Section 38, Section 278, Section 104 and Section 185 schemes from initial concept through to construction.

You'll be involved in highway layouts, external works, drainage strategies, levels, earthworks and utility coordination, working closely with Engineers to develop practical, buildable design solutions that meet current UK standards. Whilst the role is predominantly civil engineering focused, any previous structural drafting experience would also be welcomed.

We're looking for someone with around two years' experience (or more) working within a UK Civil Engineering Consultancy, ideally with an HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar. You'll have a solid understanding of AutoCAD, with experience using Civils 3D, and be comfortable producing highways and drainage drawings for development infrastructure projects. Knowledge of S38, S278, S104 and S185 submissions is important, while experience with MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage or Causeway Flow would be a distinct advantage.

More importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a smaller business where everyone knows each other, decisions are made quickly, and you'll have the freedom to take ownership of your work without layers of bureaucracy. This is a company that genuinely invests in its people, offering ongoing technical support, long-term career development and the chance to broaden your experience across a diverse portfolio of projects.

If you're looking for a role where you'll have more autonomy, greater variety and the opportunity to make a real impact within a friendly and well-respected consultancy, this is well worth a conversation.
