Civils Quantity Surveyor

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a long‑standing civil engineering main contractor in Yorkshire.

This contractor is a recognised name in the civil engineering sector with a proven track record delivering multi‑million‑pound projects for public and private clients. They operate robust commercial systems, have a strong senior leadership team, and are growing due to continued project wins.

They offer a Quantity Surveyor the opportunity to take ownership of their own schemes from early involvement through delivery to final account. Upcoming projects are located in Rotherham, Barnsley, Huddersfield, Halifax, Doncaster and Hull. Workload packages are normally a mixture of: highways improvements, s278 packages, bridges, drainage, public realm or marine/port works. Typical package values range from £1m to £15m.

Duties:

• Work closely with Senior QS / Commercial Manager on commercial strategy and reporting
• Liaise with Contracts Managers and site teams to maintain accurate project information
• Full subcontractor procurement: tendering, negotiation, appointment and management
• Manage and negotiate main contract variations and final accounts
• Provide commercial support with regular site presence
• Prepare and submit monthly payment applications
• Lead or support dispute resolution and avoidance
• Complete monthly CVRs and maintain cost control throughout project life cycle
• Ensure compliance with NEC3/NEC4 contract requirements

Experience Required:

• Proven experience as QS or AQS for a civil engineering main contractor
• Strong working knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 forms of contract
• Experience on highways, s278, structures, public realm or similar civils packages
• Ideally degree/HND in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
• Must hold CSCS and a full UK driving licence

Remuneration:

Salary up to £55,000 (DOE) plus:

Car or car allowance, annual bonus (~£3000), fuel card, annual leave, life assurance, pension scheme, and additional benefits / perks.
