Civils Site Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civils Site Engineer to join our delivery team on a range of civil engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable engineer who enjoys working on site, taking ownership of setting-out, quality, and day-to-day engineering activities.

The Role

Reporting to the Site Manager and our Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of works safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Typical projects may include highways, drainage, utilities, earthworks, reinforced concrete, foundations, infrastructure, and public-realm works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out accurate setting-out using GPS, total station, and level equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction programmes.
  • Produce and maintain site records, setting-out data, and as-built information.
  • Oversee subcontractors and ensure works are completed in line with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Assist with the preparation of RAMS, permits, ITPs, and quality documentation.
  • Conduct site checks, inspections, and quality-control activities.
  • Identify engineering or construction issues and escalate them promptly to the site management team.
  • Support planning and sequencing of works to maintain programme targets.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company procedures, health and safety legislation, and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, designers, subcontractors, suppliers, and the wider project team.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong setting-out skills and confidence using modern surveying equipment.
  • Good understanding of drawings, specifications, and construction methods.
  • Experience with drainage, earthworks, roads, concrete works, or utilities is desirable.
  • A sound understanding of health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements on site.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • CSCS card; SMSTS, First Aid, and temporary works experience would be advantageous.
