Civils / SuDS Engineer
Location: Bingley, Warrington or Nottingham – office-based with occasional site visits
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:45–17:00

The Opportunity
We are working with a leading environmental engineering consultancy specialising in sustainable water management. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Civils / SuDS Engineer to join their team and play a key role in the design and delivery of sustainable drainage solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to work on varied projects across residential, commercial and infrastructure sectors, while developing their technical expertise and contributing to innovative approaches within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, specification and implementation of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
- Undertake and review Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs).
- Develop and review detailed drainage designs using software such as MicroDrainage, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, Site3D or FLOW.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation and project proposals.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, planning policy, industry standards and the CIRIA SuDS Manual.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are achieved.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers and regulators.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers where appropriate.
- Contribute to research, innovative design approaches and industry development.
- Support improvements across areas including digital software, data management, health & safety, quality and staff development.
About You
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years' experience in SuDS design, flood risk management and/or drainage design, depending on experience level.
- Chartered status or be working towards Chartership, such as ICE or CIWEM.
- Strong knowledge of UK SuDS legislation, planning policy and design standards, particularly CIRIA C753.
- Experience using drainage design software such as MicroDrainage, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, FLOW or Site3D.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Good Microsoft Word, Excel and general IT skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and an interest in developing innovative solutions.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience with TUFLOW, ICM or other 1D/2D hydraulic modelling packages.
- Highway design experience.
- Geotechnical experience.
- Experience preparing S38, S104, S185 or S278 agreements.
- Experience participating in industry working groups or committees.
- An established professional network within the industry.
- A full UK driving licence.
