Matthew James Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing logistics business for an experienced Class 2 HGV Driver.

The Role

As a Class 2 Driver, you'll be responsible for delivering goods to town centre retail stores across the UK. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role involving manual unloading (handball), so you'll need to be comfortable with heavy lifting and working in a fast-paced delivery environment.

The role includes regular overnight stays, with secure SNAP parking provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete multi-drop deliveries to retail customers.
• Safely load and unload deliveries using a tail lift and manual handling techniques.
• Deliver outstanding customer service at every delivery point.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
• Ensure all paperwork and proof of deliveries are completed accurately.
• Adhere to all Driver Hours, Working Time Directive and road transport legislation.
• Represent the business professionally as the face of the company.

Working Hours

• Guaranteed 45 hours per week.
• Typically 2 overnight stays per week.
• One shift will usually start around 2:00am and includes an overnight stay.
• One shift will usually start around 4:00am and includes an overnight stay.
• Additional shifts may be available depending on legal driving hours, so flexibility is essential.

What's on Offer

• £16.50 - £18.00 per hour, depending on experience.
• £26.20 overnight allowance per night.
• Permanent, full-time position.
• Monthly pay (16th of each month).

• Modern, well-maintained 26-tonne vehicles fitted with tail lifts.

What We're Looking For

• Valid Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
• Driver CPC Qualification Card.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous multi-drop delivery experience is advantageous.
• Physically fit and happy to undertake manual handball deliveries.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Reliable, flexible and professional approach to work.
• Strong understanding of driver hours and transport legislation.
