Working Hours: Average 44.75 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, 6:00am–3:15pm, plus alternate Saturdays, 6:00am–10:30am.

Our client, a well-established and respected environmental services business, is seeking a motivated and reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to join their transport team based in the Gatwick area.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation that plays a vital role in waste management and environmental sustainability. The successful candidate will receive ongoing training and development, including fully funded CPC training, while working within a supportive and professional team environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Depot Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection and transportation of predominantly hazardous clinical waste, ensuring full compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects in accordance with legal requirements.
- Safely operate waste collection vehicles while adhering to all company policies and procedures.
- Comply with tachograph legislation, Working Time Directive regulations, risk assessments, and safe operating procedures.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork and records.
- Report incidents, near misses, contaminated bins, and non-conforming waste promptly.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and carry out weekly wheel nut torque checks.
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE and uniform in line with Health & Safety requirements.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Ensure punctuality, flexibility, and willingness to work overtime when required.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Valid LGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
- Driver Qualification Card (CPC/DQC)
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous experience operating waste collection vehicles
- Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Ability to read and follow maps and route information accurately
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
Training will be provided for suitable candidates where required.
