Classroom Assistant

Salary: £22,996 - £25,068 per annum (actual annual salary)
Hours: 40 hours per week

Simply Education are recruiting Teaching Assistants for an exciting new SEND school opening in January 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a brand-new setting from the very beginning and play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive and inspiring environment for children and young people.

This new specialist school will support pupils aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a focus on creating a safe, nurturing and ambitious learning environment, the school's aim is to help every pupil develop, achieve and reach their full potential.

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be a vital part of the team, supporting pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing. Working closely with the Class Teacher and wider staff team, you will help create a calm, supportive and engaging environment where every child feels valued and encouraged.

Your role will include:

• Supporting pupils with classroom activities and helping them develop new skills.
• Reinforcing learning and helping children engage with their education.
• Promoting positive behaviour by understanding and responding to individual needs.
• Supporting pupils with personal care, including hygiene, dressing and eating where required.
• Encouraging confidence, independence and personal development.
• Providing feedback on pupils' progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Helping to prepare resources and support lesson planning and activities.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for every pupil.

About You:

We are looking for caring, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a difference in children's lives.

You will ideally have:

• GCSE Maths and English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2).
• Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or a willingness to work towards this qualification).

• A commitment to putting children first and recognising that every child is unique.
• The ability to encourage independence and promote positive behaviour.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good ICT skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A patient, supportive and nurturing approach.

• Previous experience working within a SEND setting.
• An understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
