Cleaner (Play Centres) - Belfast City Council

Location: Cregagh Road, Belfast, BT6

Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour

Hours: 10 hours per week (flexible across 3-5 days)

Contract: Temporary, 12 Weeks + poss extension

Start Date: July 2026

Hatched Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Belfast City Council for a Cleaner to support the operation of local Play Centres within the Community Services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and conscientious individual with previous cleaning experience to join a respected public sector organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and polishing.
• Clean designated areas, including toilets and washroom facilities.
• Empty litter bins and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the centre.
• Safely use cleaning equipment and cleaning products in accordance with health and safety procedures.
• Act as a key holder, opening and closing the centre as required.
• Work effectively as part of a team to support the delivery of community services.
• Follow all council policies relating to health and safety, customer care, safeguarding and equality.

Essential Requirements

To be considered, applicants must have:

• Previous experience carrying out cleaning duties.
• Experience using cleaning equipment and cleaning products.
• Knowledge of safe handling, use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• An understanding of health and safety responsibilities in the workplace.
• The ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.

Desirable

• At least one year's cleaning experience in a commercial, public sector or community setting.
• Experience working as a key holder.

Compliance Requirements

Successful applicants will be required to:

• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced Access NI check.
