School Cleaner – Bodmin, Cornwall

Location: Bodmin, Cornwall
Start Date: As soon as possible, subject to successful completion of relevant vetting checks
Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 3:00pm – 5:30pm

  • Friday: 3:30pm – 6:00pm
    Contract: Temporary

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and hardworking School Cleaner to join a school in Bodmin, Cornwall.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic environment for pupils and staff and will ideally have previous cleaning experience. School or commercial cleaning experience would be desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning classrooms, offices, communal areas and other designated areas

  • Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors

  • Cleaning toilets and washroom facilities

  • Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately

  • Cleaning and sanitising surfaces

  • Following health and safety and COSHH procedures

  • Reporting any maintenance or health and safety issues

  • Ensuring cleaning standards are maintained throughout the school

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous cleaning experience is desirable

  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good attention to detail

  • Professional and responsible approach

  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding within a school environment

Vetting Requirements:

All candidates will be required to successfully complete our full safeguarding and vetting process before commencing work.

  • Minimum of two satisfactory employer references covering the previous 24 months

  • Three references required if you have not previously worked with children

  • Professional character reference required for any gaps in employment

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service preferred; otherwise, candidates must be willing to obtain a new Enhanced DBS

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Two proofs of address

  • Proof of National Insurance number

  • Proof of any name changes, where applicable

  • Overseas police check if you have lived/worked outside of the UK for more than six months

  • Completion of our online mandatory training courses
