JOB DESCRIPTION
The Guinness Partnership is looking for an experienced Clerk of Works to support the delivery of high-quality housing developments across a regional portfolio of projects.
This is a field-based, mobile role covering developments across London, Portsmouth, Brighton, Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea, with regular travel between sites expected. Applicants must be able and willing to travel extensively throughout the region to carry out inspections and support project delivery.
As Clerk of Works, you will be responsible for monitoring construction quality, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and specifications, carrying out site inspections, snagging and technical reviews, and helping to deliver defect-free homes for our customers.
What we are looking for
We are a resident-focused organisation, so how we do things is just as important as what we do. You will be a proactive construction professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with contractors, consultants and colleagues. You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Construction experience in a trade, supervisory or management role.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations and construction quality standards.
- Experience identifying and managing construction defects.
- Strong site inspection and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A customer-focused approach and commitment to high-quality outcomes.
- The ability to manage a regional workload and travel regularly between multiple development sites.
- Candidates must have access to their own vehicle and hold a full UK driving licence, as travel is an essential requirement of the role (mileage expenses will be reimbursed at 55p per mile)
Essential qualifications and requirements
- HNC/HND in Construction, Surveying or the Built Environment.
- ICWCI, CIOB or RICS membership.
- CSCS Card.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Access to your own vehicle for regular business travel across the region.
