Client Manager (fully remote)
Hays Senior Finance
Are you a practice-trained accountant looking for more than year-end accounts and compliance work?
This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative, CFO-led accounting and advisory firm where you'll work directly with experienced CFOs, gain exposure to commercial projects typically reserved for more senior finance professionals, and help ambitious business owners make better decisions. The role combines client relationship management, management reporting and advisory work, supported by cutting-edge AI technology designed to automate much of the routine accounting process.
The Opportunity
Our client supports founder-led businesses across the UK, typically between £1m and £10m turnover, providing outsourced finance functions, management reporting, forecasting and CFO-level advice. Unlike many accountancy practices, portfolios are intentionally smaller, allowing you to spend more time working with clients and delivering insights, rather than preparing accounts.
As Client Manager, you will:
- Manage a portfolio of growing SME clients as their primary point of contact.
- Build trusted relationships with business owners and leadership teams.
- Review work prepared by an offshore team and ensure the highest quality standards.
- Deliver monthly management accounts, forecasts and business performance reports.
- Guide clients through their financial results and provide commercial insight.
- Support CFOs on strategic projects including forecasting, fundraising and exit planning.
Why This Role Is Different
You'll report directly to a CFO who will mentor and develop you while involving you in board-level commercial projects. This provides exposure and development opportunities that most accountants would wait years to experience. The long-term progression route can lead towards senior client leadership and ultimately CFO-level responsibilities. The firm has also developed its own AI-powered platform, automating many routine preparation tasks and allowing accountants to focus on analysis, judgement and advisory work. You'll gain hands-on experience with technology that is reshaping the future of the profession while having the opportunity to contribute to its ongoing development.
About You
You will ideally be:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or approaching qualification.
- Experienced within an accountancy practice environment.
- Confident in managing client relationships and discussing financial information with business owners.
- Strong in management accounting, month-end reporting and forecasting.
- Familiar with cloud accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks Online.
- Looking to move beyond compliance-focused work into a more commercial and advisory-led role.
What's on Offer?
- Competitive salary depending on experience.
- Performance bonus of up to 10%.
- Fully remote working from anywhere in the UK.
- 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
- Study support for finalists, including paid study leave and exam funding.
- Genuine long-term career progression and development.
- Technology and equipment provided.
