Clinical Matron (Band 8a) – Permanent

Fox Morris Group are proud to be working in partnership with a large, forward-
thinking NHS organisation to recruit an experienced Clinical Matron into a
permanent senior leadership role.


This is a key appointment within a major acute Trust providing emergency,
elective and specialist services across multiple hospital sites.


The Role
As Clinical Matron, you will act as the critical link between senior leadership
and frontline clinical teams, ensuring strategic objectives are translated into
high-quality, safe patient care.
You will provide visible, proactive leadership across your areas of responsibility,
with accountability for quality, safety, patient experience, workforce
performance and service delivery.


This is a highly influential role with responsibility spanning:
• Professional & Clinical Leadership – setting and maintaining high
standards of care and practice
• Quality & Patient Safety – leading governance, audit, improvement and
compliance
• Service Delivery & Performance – ensuring effective operational
management and patient flow

• People Leadership – developing and supporting Ward Sisters, Charge
Nurses and multidisciplinary teams
• Strategic Contribution – supporting service development, workforce
planning and Trust-wide priorities
You will also contribute to the wider senior nursing agenda and deputise for the
Head of Nursing when required.


Key Responsibilities
• Provide visible, accessible leadership across clinical areas
• Lead on quality improvement, governance, incidents, complaints and
patient experience
• Line manage and develop senior nursing teams to drive performance
and excellence
• Ensure compliance with CQC standards and national best practice
• Support service transformation and innovation across the division
• Manage resources effectively, including delegated budgets and staffing
• Work collaboratively with clinical and operational leaders to improve
outcomes and pathways


About You
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced clinical leader who can inspire
teams and drive change.
You will have:
• Current NMC or HCPC registration
• Significant senior nursing/AHP leadership experience within an acute
setting
• A strong track record in leading quality improvement and service
transformation
• Experience in performance management, governance and workforce
planning
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement
skills
• The ability to manage complexity, prioritise effectively and deliver
results under pressure
Desirable:
• Postgraduate qualification (or working towards)
• Leadership/management qualification
