Yolk Recruitment are supporting a well-established manufacturing business in South Wales with the recruitment of a CMM Technician on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent. This role would suit candidates currently working as a CMM Technician, CMM Inspector, Quality Inspector, Metrology Technician, Dimensional Inspector or Quality Technician who have experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

This is a hands-on Quality and Metrology position, responsible for inspecting and verifying components using CMM and other inspection equipment, supporting quality investigations and ensuring products meet the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure and verify supplier and internal initial sample inspection reports.
  • Carry out dimensional inspection and verification of manufactured components using CMM equipment, Virtual DMIS and other metrology equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensional specifications and geometric tolerances.
  • Support investigations into quality issues and provide findings to the Senior Quality Engineer and Quality Manager.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and support corrective action activities.
  • Control the calibration of gauges and inspection equipment through external suppliers.
  • Conduct internal quality audits.
  • Work with Quality and production teams to resolve inspection and quality issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing activities.
  • Maintain accurate inspection and quality records.
  • Support colleagues with training and guidance where required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.

This is what you'll need

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally within Quality, inspection or metrology.
  • Good knowledge of metrology and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work accurately within tight tolerances.
  • An understanding of quality systems and inspection processes.
  • Previous CMM experience would be advantageous, particularly with Virtual DMIS or similar software.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
