Cnc Machinist

D R Newitt & Associates

DR Newitt Engineering & Manufacturing are currently working with an established engineering and manufacturing business who are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Machinist / Setter Operator to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC machinist looking for strong long-term earning potential, a structured shift pattern and the opportunity to work within a modern engineering environment.

The role will initially operate on a 3-shift rotation:

  • 6:00am – 2:00pm
  • 2:00pm – 10:00pm
  • 10:00pm – 6:00am

The business is planning to move to a Continental shift pattern, with earnings expected to be in the region of £52,000 per annum once this is introduced.

What's In It for You?

  • Permanent position with an established engineering business
  • Opportunity to secure a role with a clear long-term shift structure
  • Work with modern CNC machinery and predominantly Fanuc controls
  • Varied machining work rather than simply loading and unloading machines
  • Opportunity to develop your CNC setting and machining skills
  • Join an experienced and supportive manufacturing team
  • Long-term career opportunity within a stable business

As a CNC Setter / Operator, you'll be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery to produce quality components to drawing specifications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting and operating CNC machinery
  • Working predominantly with Fanuc-controlled machines
  • Setting tools, offsets and cutting parameters
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections
  • Using measuring equipment to ensure components meet specification
  • Making tool and offset adjustments where required
  • Changing tooling and carrying out routine machine adjustments
  • Working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
  • Identifying and reporting any machining or quality issues

About You

We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and is confident working independently within a CNC machining environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous CNC Setter / Operator experience
  • Experience with Fanuc controls
  • Good understanding of CNC machining processes
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Experience setting tools, offsets and workholding
  • Experience machining to tight tolerances
  • Good understanding of cutting tools and machining parameters
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • A flexible approach to shift work

A recognised engineering apprenticeship or qualification would be advantageous, but hands-on CNC setting and operating experience is the key requirement.

Interested?

If you're an experienced CNC Setter / Operator looking for your next move — particularly if you're interested in the earning potential that comes with a Continental shift pattern — we'd like to hear from you.
