The Client

Interaction Technical are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business operating within the injection moulding sector. Due to continued expansion and investment in their tooling and production capabilities, they are looking to add an experienced CNC Machinist to their Toolroom team in Whittlesey.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC professional to join a busy and modern manufacturing environment, playing a key role in the manufacture, modification and repair of precision tooling used in high-volume production.

The Duties
  • Set, operate and monitor CNC milling, turning and machining centre equipment.
  • Manufacture precision components to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Machine, modify and repair injection mould tools, inserts, jigs, fixtures and associated tooling.
  • Interpret technical drawings, CAD/CAM data, work instructions and job sheets.
  • Select and prepare cutting tools, fixtures and work-holding methods.
  • Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Make programme edits, tooling adjustments and offset changes to maintain production quality.
  • Support production teams by resolving tooling and machining issues.
  • Identify tooling wear and damage and escalate concerns where required.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities on CNC machinery.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, scrap and waste.
The Requirements
  • Previous experience as a CNC Machinist, CNC Setter/Operator, Toolmaker or similar precision engineering role.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience operating CNC mills, lathes or machining centres.
  • Strong understanding of machining tolerances and quality requirements.
  • Competent in the use of measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, gauges and height gauges.
  • Experience within injection moulding, plastics manufacturing or mould tool repair would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of CNC controls and programming edits would be beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineering apprenticeship, machining qualification or equivalent practical experience is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
About You

The successful candidate will be a proactive and quality-focused engineer with a strong machining background and a keen eye for detail. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting production through the accurate machining, repair and maintenance of tooling and precision components. This role would suit candidates from CNC machining, toolmaking, injection moulding, plastics manufacturing or precision engineering backgrounds.
