CNC Machinist

An established precision engineering business is expanding its manufacturing team due to sustained demand and a strong forward order book.

The organisation is seeking experienced CNC machining professionals with expertise in either milling or turning. Candidates should be able to programme, set, and operate modern CNC machinery, with experience of Heidenhain or Fanuc controls advantageous depending on the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme, set, and operate CNC machining centres to manufacture precision components.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, manufacturing instructions, and specifications.

  • Check completed work to ensure dimensional accuracy, quality, and required tolerances.

  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and assist with basic fault-finding.

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health, and safety.

  • Work closely with production and quality colleagues to achieve delivery schedules and performance targets.

About You

The successful candidates will be experienced, practical, and quality-focused professionals who are comfortable working to demanding tolerances in a busy manufacturing environment.

Essential Experience

  • Strong background in CNC milling or CNC turning.

  • Ability to programme, set, and operate CNC machinery.

  • Competence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Sound problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and professional approach.

Desirable Experience

  • Heidenhain control experience for milling applications.

  • Fanuc control experience for turning or milling applications.

  • Experience of low- to medium-volume batch production.

  • Previous work within highly regulated industries such as aerospace, defence, or medical engineering.

Working Pattern and Pay

  • Minimum 39 hours per week.

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

  • Friday: 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

  • Hourly rate: dependent on experience.
