CNC Machinist – (Milling OR Turning)

Location: Kings Langley, Hertfordshire

Salary: £33,000 – £55,000 per annum (DOE)

Role Overview

  • Due to continued expansion and investment in advanced CNC Machining technology, and full / growing order book, the business is looking to recruit CNC Machinists across both CNC Milling and CNC Turning disciplines for both new and experienced machinists.
  • You will work either as a CNC Miller or a CNC Turner, depending on your experience, producing high-precision components using modern CNC machining centres or CNC lathes. Applicants should have a strong eye for detail, a proactive mindset and a background in CNC Machining.
  • CNC Milling with Heidenhain controls
  • CNC Turning with Fanuc controls
  • The Team Leader role is ideal for a senior CNC Machinist with experience coordinating workflow, supporting others on the shop floor and maintaining quality and efficiency standards.

Key Duties:

  • Programming OR Setting, Operating CNC machines (Milling OR Turning)
  • Producing small, complex precision components using best-practice CNC Machining techniques
  • Working to tight tolerances and strict quality requirements
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings accurately
  • Proving out programs, tooling and machining processes
  • Machining a range of materials including aluminium, steels, titanium, super alloys and engineering plastics
  • Supporting continuous improvement within the CNC Machining team

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Background in either CNC Milling OR CNC Turning
  • Ability to program OR set and operate CNC Mills OR CNC Lathes
  • CADCAM Programming with HyperMill for CADCAM positions, but will consider other software packages (also training provided to advance you into CADCAM Programming if needed)
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and machining principles
  • Heidenhain experience beneficial for Milling roles
  • Fanuc experience beneficial for Turning roles
  • For Team Leader role, experience supervising machinists and coordinating workloads

Hours of Work

Days:

  • Monday to Friday – 08:00 to 16:00

Nights:

  • Monday to Thursday – 17:00 to 05:00

Overtime:

  • Regular overtime available (typically 10+ hours per week)
  • Paid at x1.5 for both shifts
