Job Title: CNC Machinist

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Hourly Rate: £16.46 - £18.46 per hour (depending on experience)

Shifts:

Training Period: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 4:45pm

Once Fully Trained:

  • Days: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 7:00pm (17% shift allowance)

  • Nights: Monday to Thursday, 7:00pm - 7:00am (36.29% shift allowance)

Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a growing engineering business. This CNC Machinist role involves setting and operating CNC turning and milling machines to manufacture precision components to extremely tight tolerances.

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for machine set-up, first-off inspections, quality checks and ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently. You will work from detailed engineering drawings, use a wide range of precision measuring equipment and carry out inspections throughout the machining process to ensure every component meets specification.

The successful CNC Machinist will also assist with machine maintenance, complete production documentation, support material handling activities using lifting equipment and forklift trucks where required, and communicate closely with production leaders to ensure work is completed on schedule.

Following a successful training period, you'll move onto an attractive continental-style shift pattern with excellent shift allowances, significantly increasing your earning potential.

Skills & Experience:

To be successful in this CNC Machinist position you should have:

  • Recently completed a Modern Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Engineering

  • Experience setting and operating CNC turning and/or milling machines

  • Experience machining to tight tolerances

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Confidence using measuring equipment including micrometers and verniers

  • Experience working safely to production procedures and quality standards

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

Experience within low-volume, bespoke manufacturing environments, using Faro inspection arms or machining large diameter components would be advantageous but is not essential.
