Our client, a leader in global aerospace component manufacturing, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist, to join their machine shop based in Havering, Greater London.

Purpose of the CNC Machinist

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will take full ownership of the quality and accuracy of your work, producing components that consistently meet customer specifications and manufacturing standards.

With an ONC/HND in Production Engineering, a Mechanical Engineering equivalent, or a completed manufacturing apprenticeship, you bring advanced CNC machining expertise. You are proficient in setting and operating Matsuura 5‑axis machining centres, Mori‑Seiki horizontal machining centres, and Haas VMCs, ensuring efficient, precise and reliable production across a variety of complex components.

Key Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist

  • Produce high‑precision aerospace and defence components in a fast‑paced CNC milling environment.
  • Set and operate Matsuura 5‑axis, Mori‑Seiki horizontals and Haas VMCs with right‑first‑time accuracy.
  • Work confidently with 4‑ and 5‑axis machining, multi‑datum setups and complex offsets.
  • Maintain exceptional quality standards with strong attention to detail and in‑process inspection.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues quickly to minimise downtime and keep production flowing.
  • Interpret technical drawings and deliver tight‑tolerance components consistently.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.

To be Considered for the CNC Machinist

  • Strong aerospace machining background with exceptional attention to detail and uncompromising quality standards.
  • Proven ability to set machines accurately and achieve right‑first‑time results.
  • Skilled in 4‑ and 5‑axis machining, including multi‑datum setups and complex offset management.
  • Confident working with Fanuc controls.
  • Solid hands‑on knowledge of Matsuura, Haas, and Mori Seiki machining centres.
  • Capable of diagnosing and resolving machine faults quickly to minimise downtime.
  • Positive, proactive mindset with a willingness to support colleagues and share expertise.
