Role: CNC Machinist
Location: Littlehampton
Salary: Up to £41,000 depending on experience
My client is an established precision engineering business supplying highly complex components into demanding sectors including aerospace, defence and motorsport.
Due to continued investment and growth, they are looking for an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machinist / Programmer to join their team.
This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for setting, operating and proving out complex components on modern 5-axis CNC machinery.
Responsibilities
- Setting and operating 5-axis CNC machines for both development work and batch production.
- Editing and creating programs at the machine using Mazak Mazatrol Smooth and/or Heidenhain controls.
- Proving out new components and manufacturing processes, making adjustments where required.
- Working with complex cast components across both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Carrying out in-process inspection using micrometres, callipers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
- Troubleshooting machining issues and making appropriate adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Carrying out routine machine maintenance and keeping the working area clean and organised.
- Working closely with engineering teams to improve machining processes and product quality.
Skills and experience
- A Level 3 machining qualification or equivalent.
- At least 5 years' experience machining complex components.
- Strong experience working with 5-axis CNC machinery.
- Experience with Mazak and/or Heidenhain controls.
- Experience of offline programming would be advantageous.
- A strong understanding of technical drawings and machining processes.
- Good knowledge of precision measurement equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently prove out new components and processes.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
This would suit an experienced 5-axis machinist who enjoys working on complex, high-value components and wants to develop their skills further within a technically advanced manufacturing environment.
What's on Offer
- Up to £41,000, depending on experience
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate
