Role: CNC Machinist / CNC Operator

Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire
Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on experience
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

A well-established precision engineering business is looking to add an experienced CNC Machinist / CNC Operator to its growing production team.

The company manufactures high-precision components for demanding customers across sectors including aerospace, automotive and high-performance engineering, working with modern CNC machining technology and tight quality requirements.

This is a great opportunity for someone with CNC machining experience who enjoys working in a hands-on production environment and wants to develop their skills further.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting and operating CNC milling and/or turning machines
  • Producing precision components to drawing and specification
  • Selecting appropriate tooling, fixtures and programmes
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Carrying out in-process inspection and basic measurement
  • Deburring and finishing components where required
  • Making minor offsets and adjustments to maintain quality
  • Re-setting machines when required
  • Maintaining a clean and organised work area
  • Carrying out basic machine checks and minor maintenance
  • Working to production targets while maintaining high quality standards

Skills and experience:

  • Previous CNC machining experience
  • Experience of setting and/or operating CNC milling or turning machinery
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of cutting tools, tooling and workholding
  • Experience using inspection equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges
  • Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
