A well-established precision engineering business in Poole is seeking an experienced CNC Miller to join its advanced manufacturing team. This is a highly technical role suited to a skilled machinist with strong offline programming capability who is looking to work on complex multi-axis machining projects.
The position offers the opportunity to be closely involved in process development, programme creation, and continuous improvement within a modern and technically driven engineering environment.
This role is not limited to shop-floor machining. It would suit someone who enjoys solving engineering challenges, improving manufacturing methods, and supporting high-quality production across a range of CNC operations.
The Role
As a CNC Miller, you will take ownership of offline programming and machining support across 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC equipment, ensuring efficient and reliable production processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing offline CNC programmes for multi-axis machining (3, 4 and 5-axis).
- Using Edgecam and Fusion 360 for programme creation and optimisation.
- Producing detailed setup documentation, tooling plans and work instructions.
- Supporting programme proving and smooth transition into production.
- Improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Defining tooling strategies, work holding methods and routing requirements.
- Supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborating closely with production and quality teams.
- Supporting new product introduction and ongoing process development.
The business is looking for an experienced CNC Miller with strong offline programming and multi-axis machining experience.
You should have:
- Proven CNC milling experience with offline programming capability.
- Experience working with 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machinery.
- Strong background in CNC machining (milling essential).
- Experience using Edgecam and Fusion 360.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of tooling and machining processes.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills across technical teams.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
- Background in precision engineering environments.
- Exposure to continuous improvement or manufacturing engineering activities.
- £45,000 per year.
