CNC Miller Overview
We’re looking for an experienced CNC Miller to join an established manufacturing team in Portsmouth. This is a hands-on machining role focused on setting and running CNC milling machines, producing precision components and maintaining quality throughout production.
The CNC Miller will need to be confident using Heidenhain controls, interpreting engineering drawings and checking finished components with precision measuring equipment. Experience with lathes or EDM machines would also be useful, although the main focus is CNC milling.
Day-to-day responsibilities of a CNC Miller
- Set and operate CNC milling machines using Heidenhain controls.
- Produce precision components to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Check components using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Maintain required tolerances and quality standards.
- Monitor machining operations and maintain consistent production quality.
- Complete production records and quality documentation.
- Keep the machine shop safe, organised and running efficiently.
- Communicate with colleagues to support day-to-day production.
- Previous experience working as a CNC Miller.
- Practical experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
- Experience with Heidenhain controls is essential.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Confident using precision measuring equipment.
- A good understanding of quality requirements and safe working practices.
- Reliable, hands-on approach with good communication skills.
- Experience operating CNC lathes.
- Experience working with EDM machines.
