CNC Miller (Setter/Operator/Programmer)

Location: Nottingham (NG9)
Salary: From £18.00ph (Negotiable depending on experience)
Shift: Days Regular - 8:00am to 4:00pm
Contract: 12 Week Temp-to-Perm

Metalis are working with a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Nottingham (NG9) who are looking to add an experienced CNC Miller (Setter/Operator/Programmer) to their machining team.



About the Role

We are seeking a skilled CNC Miller with experience setting, operating, and programming CNC milling machines in a precision engineering environment. You will be responsible for producing high-quality components to engineering drawings, ensuring parts are manufactured to the highest standards while maintaining efficiency and quality throughout the production process.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering business offering a long-term opportunity with the potential for permanent employment after a successful 12-week temporary period.



Key Responsibilities

  • Set, operate and programme CNC milling machines.
  • Manufacture precision components to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Programme and edit programmes using Fanuc controls.
  • Set and operate Brother and Haas CNC machining centres.
  • Carry out first-off and in-process inspection using measuring equipment.
  • Ensure components meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
  • Work efficiently to achieve production targets while maintaining high levels of quality.


Who Would Be Suitable

  • Previous experience as a CNC Miller (Setter/Operator/Programmer).
  • Experience setting, operating and programming CNC milling machines.
  • Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Confident using a range of measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.


Ideal Background

  • Experience working with Brother CNC machining centres.
  • Experience operating Haas CNC milling machines.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc programming and controls.
  • Apprentice-trained or time-served machinist.
  • Background within precision engineering or subcontract manufacturing.
