A precision manufacturing business based in Nottingham is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Programmer to join their growing team on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on role combining programming expertise with machine operation, where you'll take responsibility for creating and optimising CNC programmes, setting up machines, and delivering precision-engineered components to exacting standards.
The position offers £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (up to £19 per hour), working a 39-hour week, Monday to Friday, with morning and afternoon shift flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme, set, and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision components from engineering drawings.
- Create, edit, and optimise CNC programmes.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, workholding, and tool offsets.
- Carry out precision inspection using verniers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing initiatives and process optimisation.
- Maintain high standards of quality, health and safety, and housekeeping.

Preferred Requirements
- Minimum one year's experience as a CNC Miller, with proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- At least one year of CNC milling programming experience, including creating, editing, and optimising programmes.
- Hands-on experience with tooling selection, fixtures, workholding, and tool offsets.
- Competence in precision inspection using verniers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to health and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- CAD/CAM programming experience or formal training in CNC programming software.
- Familiarity with Hurco, Haas, Mazak, Fanuc, or equivalent machine controls.
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
