This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Milling professional to join a stable business in a key supervisory position, providing hands-on technical support while helping to maintain quality, productivity and smooth production flow.



The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Milling Supervisor to join the business on a permanent afternoon shift.

The successful candidate will have strong CNC milling setting and operating experience, with particular experience using FANUC controls. You will take a hands-on role within the machining department, ensuring machines are correctly set, programmes are safely proven and components are produced consistently to specification.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller who is ready to take the next step into a supervisory position while remaining hands-on and technically involved in the machining process.



Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting and operating CNC milling machines using FANUC controls
  • Selecting and setting appropriate tooling after establishing datum faces
  • Safely proving out both proven and unproven CNC programmes
  • Fully inspecting first-off components before submitting them for first-off approval
  • Carrying out dimensional and visual inspection of components in accordance with inspection plans
  • Adjusting machine offsets as necessary to achieve dimensional compliance
  • Monitoring tool wear and changing or resetting tooling as required
  • Ensuring components are consistently manufactured to drawing and customer specifications
  • Supporting production teams with technical advice and machining expertise
  • Identifying and resolving machining and quality issues
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping within the machining area
  • Supporting production targets and ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales
  • Providing hands-on guidance and support to CNC machining personnel where required


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have strong practical experience setting and operating CNC milling machinery and be confident working with FANUC controls.

You will have a strong understanding of CNC machining processes and be able to work confidently with tooling, datums, offsets and inspection requirements.

You will also have:

  • Proven CNC milling setting and operating experience
  • Strong working knowledge of FANUC controls
  • Ability to select and set appropriate cutting tools
  • Good understanding of establishing datum faces
  • Experience safely proving out CNC programmes
  • Ability to carry out first-off inspection and submit components for approval
  • Experience carrying out dimensional and visual inspection
  • Ability to adjust machine offsets to achieve dimensional compliance
  • Good understanding of tool wear and tool replacement/resetting
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of machining tolerances and quality requirements
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy production environment


The following would be advantageous:

  • Previous experience in a CNC supervisory or team-leading position
  • Experience working within a precision engineering environment
  • Experience working to formal inspection plans
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and production efficiency
  • Relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship
