Role: CNC Operator Machinist
Location: Sturminster Newton
Salary: Up to £38,000 depending on experience
We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Operator Machinist to join an established and growing precision engineering business based in Sturminster Newton.
The company specialises in the manufacture of high-precision components, working from prototypes and short batches through to larger volume production. The machining facility includes modern CNC turning and milling equipment, twin-spindle and multi-axis machinery.
Responsibilities include:
- Operating CNC turning and/or milling machinery.
- Setting and operating machines to produce precision components.
- Loading and unloading components and monitoring production.
- Selecting and changing tooling where required.
- Carrying out in-process inspection and quality checks.
- Reading and working from engineering drawings.
- Using a range of measuring equipment to ensure components meet specification.
- Making minor offsets and adjustments to maintain component quality.
- Working with a variety of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper, titanium and other specialist alloys.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Working closely with the wider engineering team to achieve production and quality targets.
- Supporting both short-batch and volume production requirements.
Skills and experience:
- Previous experience operating CNC machinery within a precision engineering environment.
- Experience with CNC turning and/or milling.
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Good knowledge of cutting tools and machining processes.
- Experience using inspection and measuring equipment.
- A good understanding of engineering tolerances and quality requirements.
- A reliable and methodical approach to your work.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a small team.
Candidates who have experience with Mazak, Miyano, Takisawa or Haas machinery would be particularly relevant, although experience with other CNC controls and machine tools will also be considered.
