Cnc Programmer

Arden White Limited

CNC Programmer / Machinist
Woking

This role is being advertised by Arden White, a specialist engineering recruitment agency supporting engineering and manufacturing organisations across the UK and internationally.

Role Overview
We are looking for a CNC Programmer/Machinist to programme complex 3-axis, 3+2-axis and 5-axis components. You will be responsible for producing fast, efficient and reliable CNC programmes while contributing to design-for-manufacture improvements and automation planning.

There may also be opportunities to set and run the jobs you have programmed, allowing you to remain hands-on with the machining process if desired.

This role would suit someone with experience in a demanding precision engineering environment such as Formula One, aerospace or defence, combined with a creative approach to solving complex manufacturing challenges.

Key Responsibilities
Programme 3-axis, 3+2-axis and 5-axis machined components.
Produce CNC programmes that support efficient machining and manufacturing.
Review component designs and recommend changes that could simplify or accelerate manufacture.
Contribute to automation schedules and manufacturing workflows.
Support the development of processes that align with automation timelines.
Work with CNC machinery using G-code and CAD/CAM software.
Set and run programmed jobs where required or desired.
Collaborate with the wider engineering team on technically challenging and innovative projects.

What You’ll Bring
Good practical understanding of CNC machining and precision manufacturing.
Experience programming CNC-machined components.
Experience working with G-code and CAD/CAM software.
Previous experience using a recognised CAM package.
Experience with 3-axis, 3+2-axis or 5-axis machining.
An understanding of efficient machining strategies and manufacturing workflows.
The ability to identify design changes that could improve manufacturability.
A collaborative, open and creative approach to engineering challenges.
Experience in Formula One, aerospace, defence or another demanding precision engineering environment would be advantageous.
An understanding of automation workflows and manufacturing around automation timelines would be beneficial.

The client currently operates 5-axis milling and turning machinery with Fanuc controllers. Programming is undertaken using Autodesk Fusion 360, so experience with Fusion 360 would be advantageous but is not essential.

Applications are also welcomed from CNC programmers with experience using alternative CAM packages. There may be an opportunity to introduce improved programming workflows or support a future move to another platform, such as hyperMILL.
