CNC Programmer/Operator – No Shift Working

Express Recruitment are once again supporting one of the fastest growing engineering firms in the UK, due to increasing global orders for their in demand bespoke machines. Due to ongoing growth and investment in their production capabilities, they are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Programmer & Operator to join their team.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in working with 3-axis CNC milling machines, combined with a solid understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T, along with the capability to create, optimise and run CNC programs to tight tolerances.

This role offers flexible start times between 7am – 8:30am and early Friday finish options.

In return, you will receive a starting hourly rate of up to £18.12, plus a great benefits package of, 25 days annual leave + stats, 5% employee / 4% employer pension, death in service (x2 of annual salary), monthly price draws and profit share.

Skills & Experience

• Skilled in using CNC machine controls (Heidenhain/Siemens) and CAM software essential  

• Time-served apprenticeship or HNC/HND (or equivalent) within an engineering discipline 

• Understanding of machining behaviours for materials such as aluminium, steels and plastics 

• Ability to read and understand precision CAD drawings

• Confident user of calibration and metrology equipment, including verniers, calipers and micrometres  
• Excellent attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to work independently 

Roles & Responsibilities

• Create, develop and optimise CNC programs from technical drawings and CAD models to produce high precision machinery components  

• Program, set and operate CNC 3-axis milling machines using Siemens and Heidenhain controls, ensuring accuracy and alignment 

• Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using precise measurement tools 

• Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs, tooling or setups accordingly 

• Work closely with Design Engineers to produce bespoke tooling components and complete CNC cutting lists for machine parts  

• Maintain a safe, tidy work area and collaborate with production and engineering teams
