Are you a skilled CNC Miller Programmer looking to work on complex, large-scale components for the Nuclear, Medical, and Semi-conductor industries? Our client is looking for a CNC Milling Programmer to join their highly professional, well-structured shop floor in Abingdon.

The Role
As CNC Programmer you will be involved in programming, setting, and operating 3, 4, and 5-axis machines. You will be working on a variety of projects, including large-scale parts up to 2.5m, requiring a “right first time” approach to high-precision engineering.

Core Responsibilities

  • Programming & Setting: Full responsibility for programming, setting, and operating CNC Mills (Heidenhain) to optimum safe methods.
  • Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings to manufacture parts to tight tolerances.
  • Documentation: Create detailed layout sheets for tooling, setups, and machine parameters to ensure repeatable quality.
  • Quality Control: Self-qualify and document your own work using a variety of measuring equipment (MTE).
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively suggest time and cost-saving ideas to improve production efficiency.

Working Hours

  • Monday–Thursday: 07:00–15:30
  • Friday: 07:00–14:30

What You Bring

  • Expertise: Minimum of 5 years’ experience programming and operating 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machines.
  • Control Systems: Must be proficient in Heidenhain (Fanuc experience is a bonus).
  • Machine Knowledge: Previous experience on Doosan, Matsuura, or Mazak platforms is preferred.
  • Large-Scale Experience: Proven ability to work on large parts (up to 2.5m) and maintain high precision.
  • Qualifications: A time-served apprenticeship is preferred; overhead crane and manual handling training is a plus (though training can be provided).
