Are you an experienced CNC Setter/Operator looking for a new opportunity with a well-established precision engineering business?

We are currently recruiting CNC Setter/Operators to join a busy machining environment in Preston, working on a wide range of high-quality components for demanding industries.

The Role

You will be joining an established CNC machining operation with approximately 30 CNC machines, including Mazak, DMG and Hurco machinery.

The role will involve setting and operating CNC machines to manufacture precision components, working predominantly with aluminium, alongside titanium and steel.

You will be working to demanding aerospace-level tolerances of around 2 thou, so accuracy, attention to detail and a strong understanding of CNC machining are essential.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for producing quality components efficiently and consistently, while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.

What will you be doing?

  • Setting and operating CNC machinery

  • Producing precision components from engineering drawings

  • Setting tooling, fixtures and machine offsets

  • Checking components throughout the machining process

  • Working to tight tolerances and maintaining high-quality standards

  • Machining predominantly aluminium, alongside titanium and steel

  • Carrying out quality checks and ensuring components meet specification

  • Making adjustments to tooling, offsets and programmes where required

  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment

  • Working efficiently to meet production requirements

What will you bring to the party?

  • 5+ years' CNC machining experience preferred

  • Proven experience as a CNC Setter/Operator or CNC Machinist

  • Strong setting and operating experience

  • Experience with Mazak, DMG, Hurco or similar CNC machinery would be advantageous

  • Experience working with aluminium, titanium and/or steel

  • Ability to work accurately to tight engineering tolerances

  • Aerospace, motorsport or other precision engineering experience would be highly desirable

  • Good ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • An engineering apprenticeship, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification would be advantageous

  • A reliable, hardworking approach with strong attention to detail

  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
