Excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Setter / Operator to join their production machine shop.
Working as part of our clients’ manufacturing team, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality, precision components to technical drawings and tight tolerances.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC machinist looking to join a professional manufacturing environment offering a stable 37-hour working week and competitive hourly rates.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting and operating CNC lathes to produce precision components
- Setting and operating CNC vertical machining centres
- Working from technical engineering drawings to manufacture components accurately and to tight tolerances
- Carrying out your own quality inspections to ensure components meet the required specification
- Working closely with supervisors and managers to ensure production targets and requirements are achieved efficiently
- Operating manual centre lathes and drilling machines when required
- Completing simple manual machining tasks as necessary
- Monitoring machine fluid levels and replenishing as required
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised machine and working area
- Following all company health, safety and welfare procedures at all times
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC lathes
- Experience setting and operating CNC vertical machining centres would be advantageous, although training can be provided
- The ability to read and work accurately from technical engineering drawings
- Experience using manual measuring equipment and gauges
- Experience operating manual centre lathes and drilling machines
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- The ability to work effectively under supervision
- The confidence to use your own initiative when required
- A reliable, conscientious and flexible approach to work
- A strong commitment to health and safety
CNC Controls
Experience with the following control systems would be beneficial:
Fanuc 32 and 6T – CNC lathes
Mitsubishi Midas
HAAS M18 – vertical machining centres
However, full training can be provided on the company's specific control systems where required, so candidates with strong CNC setting and operating experience are encouraged to apply.
Working Hours
37 hours per week
Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
(30-minute lunch break)
Friday: 7:30am – 12:30pm
Pay & Benefits
- £15.00 – £17.00 per hour, depending on experience
- 37-hour working week
- 22 days' holiday per year, in addition to bank holidays and the Christmas/New Year shutdown period
- Initial 6-month probationary period
- Stable position within an established OEM manufacturing environment
- Training provided where required
