The Role
Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for a CNC Setter/Operator to join a long-established engineering business specialising in the manufacture of high-quality precision components and machinery. Working within a small, skilled team at a newer manufacturing site, the CNC Setter/Operator will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC machinery to produce accurate components to required quality standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong technical knowledge, good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Programming, setting and operating CNC machines to produce precision parts
- Working to ISO9001 quality standards and required production specifications
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings accurately
- Using Fanuc controls and Alphacam to support machining processes
- Selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures for each job
- Carrying out in-progress checks to ensure accuracy and quality
- Inspecting completed parts to ensure they meet specification
- Performing routine machine maintenance checks
- Troubleshooting machining issues to minimise downtime
- Supporting best practice, good housekeeping and continuous improvement across the workshop
Requirements
The successful CNC Setter/Operator will have previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC machinery within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience using Fanuc controls and Alphacam would be highly desirable, along with confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings. Strong attention to detail, sound machining knowledge and the ability to carry out quality checks are also highly desirable. You will be self-motivated, able to work independently and comfortable contributing as part of a small team. This role could suit someone who has worked as a CNC Machinist, CNC Programmer or CNC Miller/Turner.
