Senior CNC Setter/Operator – Birmingham

Winner Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior CNC Setter/Operator on behalf of one of our established clients based in Birmingham City Centre.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and detail-focused individual with experience within the jewellery industry. The successful candidate will have strong CNC setting and operating experience and be fully proficient in Precision Cad Cam, G-Code, and Fusion 360.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills who can work efficiently within a busy engineering environment while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC machines including lathes, mills, and routers in line with production requirements
  • Adjust tool lengths and machine offsets manually or using software
  • Load and verify G-Code programs prior to operation
  • Modify or create basic CNC programs directly on the machine
  • Select and load appropriate tools and materials for each job
  • Monitor tooling performance and replace worn tools where required
  • Inspect components using measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Ensure all parts meet tight tolerances and high-quality finish standards
  • Carry out first-off and in-process inspection checks
  • Identify and resolve machine or programming faults efficiently
  • Optimise machine performance and minimise metal waste
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions where appropriate
  • Assist with CNC programming duties where required (training can be provided)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within CNC setting and operating
  • Strong working knowledge of Precision Cad Cam, G-Code, and Fusion 360
  • CNC machining experience is essential
  • Previous programming knowledge is advantageous
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy
  • GCSE Maths or equivalent with the ability to understand measurements and volumes
  • Professional and confident communication skills when working with colleagues and internal departments
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines without compromising quality

Working Hours:

Monday – Thursday: 07:00 – 15:30
Friday: 07:00 – 12:30

Candidates must be flexible, including the ability to work additional hours when required, as working patterns may change to meet business needs.

Salary:

£40,000 per annum DOE
