We are recruiting for a hands-on CNC Toolmaker to join our client’s production team. This is a hands-on, varied role covering tooling manufacture, CNC machining, and press tool/die maintenance.
You will be working across tool design, manufacture, and repair, supporting production to keep processes running smoothly, while also playing a part in day-to-day team leadership and continuous improvement.
As a CNC Toolmaker, you will be responsible for:
- Designing, modifying and manufacturing tooling, jigs, fixtures and press tools to issued drawings
- Setting, operating and programming CNC mills and lathes
- Diagnosing and repairing diecasting machines and dies, including replacement parts, ejection pins and sleeves
- Carrying out preventative maintenance, testing and polishing of tooling and dies
- Improving programs and machining strategies (speeds/feeds, tooling selection) and identifying quality deviations
- Managing tooling stock, supplier deliveries and the KanBan system
- Meeting production schedules/KPIs and attending daily production meetings
- Supporting team oversight (attendance, return-to-work interviews, H&S/PPE compliance) and liaising with HR
- Continuously improving processes and equipment use
The ideal candidate will be:
- Level 3 qualified in a mechanical engineering discipline
- Strong drawing-reading skills
- Confident operating, setting and programming CNC mills and lathes
- Flexible and adaptable to changing demands
- Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
- Willing to undertake training relevant to the role
- Strong time management and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Supervisory experience is desirable
