CNC Turner / Mill-Turn Machinist
Location: Aylesford
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (DOE) + potential for higher salary for senior programmers
Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts – 6:00am–2:00pm / 2:00pm–10:00pm

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner / Mill-Turn Machinist to join a successful engineering company based in Aylesford. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with a strong turning background who is looking to develop their skills across CNC turning, mill-turn machining, and CNC milling.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the setting and operating of CNC lathes, turning machines, and mill-turn machines, working with Fanuc controls.
The company also operates CNC milling machinery, so candidates with milling experience would be highly advantageous. There may be opportunities to support the milling section when required, working with machines using Siemens, Haas, and Brother controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting and operating CNC turning and mill-turn machines
- Working with Fanuc-controlled CNC machinery
- Adjusting existing CNC programs, including tool positions, offsets, feeds, and speeds
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Selecting tooling and optimising machining setups
- Carrying out quality checks on finished components
- Supporting improvements to machining processes
- Assisting the CNC milling department when required
Programming Requirements:
The company manufactures its own products and primarily works from existing CNC programs rather than creating new programs from scratch.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Understand CNC programs and how they are structured
- Make programme edits and adjustments when required
- Adjust tooling, offsets, and machining parameters
- Support improvements to existing programmes and machining methods
Training and development will be provided for the right candidate, with opportunities to further develop skills in turning, mill-turn machining, and programming.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC turning machines
- Strong CNC turning background essential
- Experience with Fanuc controls preferred
- Mill-turn experience advantageous
- CNC milling experience beneficial (Siemens, Haas, or Brother controls)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Confident making offsets and programme adjustments
- Good understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining processes
Salary:
- £35,000 - £45,000 for experienced CNC machinists who can independently set and operate machines
- Higher salaries considered for senior-level machinists with strong programming experience and the ability to optimise and improve existing CNC programmes
