Salary: £43,000 – £47,000 per annum

Hours: 38 hours per week
Shift: Late shift, Monday to Thursday, 2:30pm – 12:30am
Break: 30-minute unpaid lunch break, 8:30pm – 9:00pm
CDM Recruitment are working exclusively with a successful precision engineering business in County Durham who are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Turner on a permanent basis.
This is a stable, long-term opportunity within a busy machine shop. The role would suit a CNC Turner who is confident programming, setting and operating CNC lathes, reading engineering drawings, making offset adjustments and quality checking their own work.
The package is based on £18.00 per hour plus a 21% shift allowance, equivalent to circa £43,000 per annum before overtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programme, set and operate CNC lathes.
- Read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Read, understand and edit CNC programmes using the machine interface.
- Carry out quality checks on your own work.
- Troubleshoot and make adjustments to offset coordinates.
- Deburr and fettle detailed components by hand.
- Use the manufacturing system to check material availability, part requirements, routings and job information.
- Operate within a 5S manufacturing cell environment.
- Support the accurate and efficient manufacture of precision engineered components.
The Person:
- Experienced CNC Turner.
- Confident programming, setting and operating CNC lathes independently.
- Strong background working with CNC turning machine tools.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Able to read, understand and edit CNC programmes.
- Confident making offset adjustments.
- Able to quality check own work.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar CNC turning role.
- Experience with Fanuc controls would be desirable but is not essential.
- Experience with other CNC controls will also be considered.
- Proactive team player with a positive attitude.
- Engineering apprenticeship, City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification would be beneficial.
