CNC Turner

Location: Blaydon
Salary: £31,500 – £33,500 per annum

Working Pattern: On-site

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner to join a precision engineering and manufacturing environment based in Blaydon.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC lathes to produce high-quality precision components to customer specifications, engineering drawings and required tolerances.

The Role

• Set and operate modern CNC turning machines.
• Programme CNC lathes where required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and tolerances.
• Select appropriate tooling, materials and work-holding methods.
• Carry out in-process inspections and dimensional checks.
• Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Adjust machine settings to maintain quality and optimise performance.
• Work with a range of metals and alloys, including stainless steels and high-performance materials.
• Record production data accurately.
• Carry out basic machine maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Work closely with production and quality teams to meet delivery schedules.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and support lean manufacturing initiatives.

About You

• Strong experience in CNC turning, including setting and operating CNC lathes.
• CNC programming experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good knowledge of machining principles, cutting speeds and feeds, tooling and work-holding.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment and carrying out quality checks.
• Experience working with stainless steels and other high-performance materials.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Previous experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification would be advantageous.
• Strong commitment to health and safety and maintaining high housekeeping standards.
• Flexibility to work shifts or extended hours when required to support production and customer deadlines.
